Welcome to elewa - e-learning Waldorf! This first week of elewa's course on Sustainable language teaching and learning is meant to give you some orientation and help you to understand the overall structure of the course. We hope you will get familiar with navigating and finding your way around. In the first video I will introduce you to some of our thoughts about language teaching and learning as well as teacher learning and cooperation that form the basis for this course about sustainable education.
Week 1: Basic thoughts on education and language learning
This week you can learn about our understanding of the aims of education in general and language learning in particular. We will investigate the learning process itself and explain how this concept of learning not only influences our way of teaching but has influenced the elewa online courses as well. In this context we will also introduce community circles as a tool of collegial communication.
This week we will focus on language learning and investigate what natural language acquisition can teach us about the conditions of language learning. You will find out what we can learn from the observation of natural language acquisition for formal language lessons in school. Moreover, there will be examples of good practice - combined with the invitation to try things out in your own lessons, to start on your first practitioner research project and to share your experience in the discussion forum..
