In these introduction to the course you'll find some general information about the structure of the learning journey, the material we offer, and the learning tools used in this course..
In this chapter we look at some of the risks that come with the use of digital media, building on research findings that have looked at neuro-physiological and psychological aspects. We also refer to prevention strategies that have been proven to be successful.
Physical and mental health - attention for attention
In this chapter we aim to broaden the understanding of why the capacity to hold attention or focus is important for mental health, how it is developed and furthered and how it is challenged and (mis)used for commercial profit through the use of digital technology in media.
Social and emotional health - attachment and attunement
“The roots of resilience…. are to be found in the sense of being understood by and existing in the mind and heart of loving, attuned and self-possessed other.” – Diana FoshaThis chapter explores the basics of attachment and attunement theory as a foundation to build resilience. Furthermore the concept of a Sense of Coherence (SoC) from Antonovsky will be used as a lens to explore the development of resilience.
Social and emotional learning - relation formation
In this chapter we explore how identity formation is intimately connected to the formation of relations. Furthermore, we will look at attention as a listening capacity to understand others from the perspective of the child/young person and of the adult. As a start we explore volatile attention as a foundation and prerequisite to be able to direct and hold our focus.
