I just would like to assure all of you, that it is also possible to work with pictures and creative stories with children, who are at the beginning of the language acquisition. The idea was borrowed from a colleague teaching English (I teach German) – I brought a large sheet of paper with a building on it, an a bunch of photos showing people, cut out of some magazines (mostly Ikea catalogue). I gave them to the class and asked the children to choose a flat in the house and glue it on a lillte piece of paper. There was enough place to describe each of the tenants and relations between them: what are they names, how old are they, what do they like to do, what do they do for a living.
The ideas, the children developed, were astonishing, including some horror stories, and I have the outcomes for this day. Apparently they have had a bit of fun doing it.
