I do not teach in classes 1-3, but I can imagine, that the bigest challenge would be to get the children to speak freely about themselves, because it involves understanding what is being said. Repeating verses after the teacher on the other hand, not necessarily means that the children understand what they are saying.
1) Have you ever heard people say or thought yourself that playing, singing, reciting poems and listening to stories for three years is a bit of a waste of time?
As there is a specific school program, most of the people believe that these activities are just about waisting time
2) If you are teaching in classes one to three, which of these activities do you personally enjoy most?
I adore teaching young learners and I enjoy all of these activities. But if I have to choose the best for me – guess it would be reading and playing or crafting after reading (on a topic of the book)
3) Which of these activities are the biggest challenge for you? What could you do or what would you need in order to better cope with this challenge?
Maybe poems are the most difficult for me, cause it’s quite challenging to teach children, or even to motivate to learn it by heart
Of course. Some people think that playing and reciting is not the way you should learn and acquire a foreign language.
I enjoy all of the activities, especially when I see that children have also a lot of fun. What I see as challenging is the memorising the verses myself. But after some practice you can manage everything.
