elewa – not just a clever abbreviation,

but a deeply felt concept

In Swahili elewa means understanding, comprehending! And that is what elewa is about.
We believe that what we as educators and teachers need and what our professional life
asks for is observing, reflecting, understanding and then moving, developing, transforming –
again and again as a lifelong learning journey.

elewa is an open learning space – between roots and new beginnings.
Here, educators and interested individuals can meet in dialogue, share experiences, explore new things,
and jointly weave an understanding and a practice for learning and teaching for the future.

You are interested in lifelong learning and transformation?

Our courses are designed as learning journeys which are based on an understanding of different life- and learning processes. We know that pedagogical knowledge is important, but we think that providing practice examples and teaching material is not enough. We are convinced that we need to understand what we are doing to be able to react in flexible ways and hence adapt our teaching to challenges as well as everyday situations. Therefore, elewa learning jopurneys invite agency and reflection in order to foster understanding and transformation.

You are looking for collegial dialogue and co-operation?

As teachers, we are often feel with professional challenges, in the lass room as well as during preparation and reflection of demanding tasks and situations. Therefore, dialogue with colleagues and mutual support are important tools within a pedagogical community. A positive attitude towards co-operation combined with awareness-based practices for co-developing and co-creating are at the basis of our online-dialogues and online-courses. Dialogue and co-operation at at the heart of healthy, holistic professional development and personal growth.

You like to learn with diverse material in flexible ways?

Resrearch on adult learning shows that also beyond school education learning processes deepen when there is flexibility in material and tasks and self-determination in the process itself. Therefore we offer diverse material, flexible ways of learning, and various forms of activities

… if you are open to questioning old certainties and want to allow new things to
grow in natural rhythms and help shape a future-oriented pedagogy …

… if you are looking for exchange with colleagues beyond borders and want to share inspiration
and further develop your practice in lively dialogue …

… if you see diversity as a strength and are looking for spaces where safety,
inspiration, and courage come together…

… then you probably share our vision.

The elewa e-learning platform was founded by Ulrike Sievers and Martyn Rawson in 2015 and supported by Ulrike Barth through her valuable contributions with courses in the field of inclusion. In 2020 elewa-eLearningWaldorf e.V. became a non-profit organisation.

elewa sees itself as a space for the collaboration of committed educators and those interested in pedagogy who want to share or develop teaching and experiential offerings with colleagues, independent of institutions.

Our vision is rooted in the principles of Waldorf education while remaining open to other pedagogical approaches and perspectives. We are highly inspired by Otto scharmer’s Theory U and its tools for awarenessbased transformation. Our goal is to create learning spaces where adults are empowered through peer dialogue, enabling them to collaboratively develop pathways for future-oriented educational practice.
