Just a few ideas to get the conversation started… I find dialogic collegial exchange very productive, both within a subject faculty and within a group of class colleagues. Both have the function of giving you another perspective on a class, the former in terms of sharing comparable experiences and the latter in providing perspectives which are varied and context dependant. Sitting in on each other’s lessons and offering observations and impressions is a practice that I have always found to be enriching as well.
I think that reflection can also be a phase of the planning process. Before continuing with my planning, I look back over my previous plan and make shorthand annotations, noting what worked well (and what didn’t), and also my observations of specific students during specific phases.
I find that looking back on my plan while marking Main Lesson books allows me to reflect on how successfully I achieved the intended outcomes and see the reasons for going in certain directions during the Main Lesson that weren’t foresaw.
I also find it useful to observe colleagues in different subjects with it only being about me getting ideas and inspiration rather than giving them feedback.
