We played chinese whispers – known also as silent post – and the outcome is always fun. It can be tricky however, as the children might be very hyped up at the end (depending on how long the game last and what the final outcome is).
I really like the idea of playing Chinese Whispers with a short story. I shall keep this in the back of my mind and try it out once the opportunity arises. 🙂
I really like the idea of creating a special atmosphere in order to draw the pupils’ attention on the listening process. This will unwind them and might also increase their ability of concentration over a longer time.
Word chains, guessing games, or memory games (in a chain mode) can be used in various grades and also introduce students from an early age on to listen carefully to their classmates.

Is it also apt for 9th graders (or even above?)
